PharMerica Staff Pharmacist Danna Brown, Pharm.D., is Working Smart and Doing Good in Birmingham, Alabama.
During a COVID vaccination clinic at a facility for individuals with disabilities, Danna observed many of the patients she was seeing appeared anxious and agitated. After inquiring with the facility鈥檚 support staff, Danna learned several individuals tended to become nervous around people they didn鈥檛 know, especially those who were unable to communicate verbally.
Upon hearing this revelation, Danna Got Going! and offered to use her skills as a harpist to help. Danna began bringing her harp to the vaccination clinics and would play when possible to create a peaceful atmosphere for patients as they waited.
鈥淒anna has played the harp at four vaccination clinics so far, and it has been a welcome distraction,鈥� shared Pharmacy Director Donnis Hackney. 鈥淪he originally bought a travel-sized harp to play at nursing homes in our area because it was something she wanted to do. She loves our patients and has
enjoyed getting to see them in person at these clinics.鈥�
